I’m Mish Rahman and I’m standing to be your Labour candidate for Wolverhampton West.

Austerity has left communities in Wolverhampton vulnerable during crisis and while we are left struggling to pay our bills the Tory MP for Wolverhampton West, Stuart Anderson, has claimed more for his utilities than any other MP in the UK. The Tories may have a new leader but we are facing the same problems and the same people are making profits.

We need a united Labour Party, locally and nationally, and I am standing to bring together Labour’s local government, trade unions and membership to build a general election campaign we can all be proud of.

Dear friends,

I've just been informed that the selection for our constituency has been postponed until the new year by the NEC. This decision was taken to ensure that an eventual longlist reflects the full diversity of the Party and to avoid the selection running through the winter break. But be in no doubt — my application to be Parliamentary candidate is still under consideration. I am still in the running.

I'm really glad that party is committed to diversity and welcome the approach to ensure there is a fully diverse pool of candidates for members to choose from. Labour should always be inclusive.

I would like to thank everyone who has been part of the campaign so far, from local members and unions. I have been blown away by the hard work of activists, the knowledge of members and the eagerness to take on the Tories. I know that we will win Wolverhampton back for Labour and I am excited to begin leading that fight even if now I will have to wait a little longer.

While the selection may have been paused, our campaign will continue. I will look to  meet and engage with as many local Wulfranians as possible. I will also continue to reach out and build on our positive broad church campaign so we can take on the Tories together from a position of strength.

Yours in solidarity,

Mish Rahman
